Vincent Joseph Turcotte, Jr. M.D., died peacefully at the age of 90 on April 28, 2021 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. 

Vince was born on June 5, 1930, in Detroit, Michigan to Margaret Campau Meldrum and Vincent Joseph Turcotte, Sr., M.D. In 1948, he graduated from De La Salle Collegiate in Detroit, where he lettered in football his junior and senior years. He earned his B.S. from the University of Michigan in 1952 and his M.D.from Wayne State University in 1956. After completing his internship at the University of Chicago in 1957, Vince returned to Ann Arbor for his Internal Medicine Residency at the University of Michigan, which he completed in 1960. In 1962, he completed his cardiology Fellowship, also at the University of Michigan. Vince met Nancy Hilton Holcombe in Ann Arbor, where they were married in 1959. 

Vince was a nearly 50 year member of Kent Country Club, where he loved to play golf. He was a devoted fan of all Michigan sports, especially the Michigan Wolverines football and basketball teams, as well as the Lions and Tigers. On long weekends and in the summer, he and his family enjoyed spending time at their family cottage up north in Presque Isle, Michigan. 

Dr. Turcotte, who began his private practice in Cardiology and Internal Medicine with Western Michigan Internal Medicine Associates in 1963, was known for his pioneering work in interventional cardiology in Western Michigan. During his career, Dr. Turcotte served as Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine, School of Human Medicine, Michigan State University, Lansing Michigan; Chief of Staff at Blodgett Memorial Medical Center, Grand Rapids Michigan, 1991-1992; President, Kent County Heart Unit; and Chair of the Kent County Medical Society’s Physicians Recovering Committee. 

Following his long and successful career as a clinical cardiologist, Dr. Turcotte went on to serve as Medical Director of Medical Staff Quality Improvement at Blodgett Memorial Medical Center, Grand Rapids, Michigan, from 1993-2000. He was known for his frank and supportive approach with both physicians and patients, and was held in highest esteem by his peers for his honest and forthright style. 

Vincent Joseph Turcotte, M.D., was the devoted husband of the late Nancy H. Turcotte (1931-2015); loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather of five children, Stephen Alan (Jane Stevens), Susan Grace (James P. McFadden), Vincent Joseph III, Peter James (Richard L. Randall) and Daniel Louis; 10 grandchildren, Sara N. James, John S. Turcotte, Anne S. Turcotte, James V. McFadden (Noriko Kakihara), Stephen P. McFadden, Peter C. Turcotte, Daniel P. Turcotte, Lucas A. Turcotte, Jack A. Turcotte and Joseph V. Turcotte (Kalli Barrone); and four great-grandchildren, Maya N. James, Oliver M. James, Sophie R. McFadden and James K. McFadden; and brother of the late Jeremiah G. Turcotte, M.D. (1933-2020) (Claire L.). 

A memorial mass will be held on September 2, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Church with a reception to follow, location to be announced.
