Robert W. Saylor

Robert Saylor, 101!!, of Grand Rapids, Michigan, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2022.

Bob was born in Progress, PA on May 24, 1921.  He graduated with his bachelor’s degree from Lehigh University and from the University of Michigan with his masters in engineering.  He married Maryan Hodgson on August 25, 1935 in Detroit, MI.

After moving to Grand Rapids, Bob worked for Lear Siegler Inc.  He was a member of Central Reformed Church where he served on Consistory and loved singing in the choir.  Maryan and Bob travelled extensively throughout the world.  He was an avid bridge player and played up until last year.

Bob was preceded in death by his wife Maryan.  He is survived by his daughters Meral Pontier (Scott) and Robyn Saylor; Annie Johnson that Bob has recently reconnected with; his grandsons Ryan (Christine), Tyler (Meredith) and Luke (Megan); and his 4 great granddaughters Anna, Lillian, Teagan, and Mariyah.

A memorial service will be held for Bob on Saturday, June 18, at 11:00 AM. It will take place at Central Reformed Church, 10 College Avenue, Grand Rapids, MI.
