Phoua Yang Obituary

Phoua Hang (N. TxoojSuav) Yang was born in NongHet, Laos on March 9, 1945 to JouToua Hang and May Yang Hang.  Phoua is the 4th of 7 children.  On January 3, 2021, Phoua passed on to her home with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at the age of 75.  Her life will be remembered, celebrated, and missed by all who knew her.  She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of nearly 59 years, ChongShua Yang, 5 children, 4 children-in-law, and 28 grandchildren.

Phoua’s siblings are Chue (N. Colonel JouaChao Yang) {passed}, Zang (N. Colonel JouaTrue Vang), NaoLue, SyKua {passed}, Lee (N. ChueCheng Yang), and PangLee.

Phoua had 3 loves of her life.  First was her Lord Jesus Christ.  Phoua was baptized by Rev. Soso Thao on March 1965 in XiengKhouang, Laos.  Second was her husband, Major Lieutenant ChongShua Yang, whom she married on February 2, 1962.  Third was her nuclear family that encompassed nearly everyone she’d ever met.  Phoua and ChongShua added 7 children to their family.  Their eldest is YouaHer (Xia Xiong) who has 5 sons, 3 daughters, 4 daughters-in-law, 3 sons-in-law, and 14 grandchildren.  Second is TzerCheng (Kham Heu) who has 1 daughter.  Third is Bee (NouSou Her) who has 3 sons and 2 daughters.  Fourth is MouaYing who passed to be with the Lord at 1 month old.  Fifth is GaoSheng who passed to be with the Lord at 1 month old.  Sixth is VaajLeng (MariAnna Khang) who has 3 sons, 2 daughters and 1 more daughter on the way.    Seventh is BobbieSee (NoVa Ku) who has 2 sons.

With their fellow countrymen, they fled Laos during the Secret War.  In May 1975, they arrived in Thailand and awaited their pilgrimage to the United States of America.  In August 1976, Phoua’s family arrived in Hillsdale, Illinois where they would reside in East Moline, Illinois until they moved to St. Ignace, Michigan in 1993.  In 1993, Phoua and ChongShua ventured to start their own business in hope of continuing their vision of returning to Thailand to help spread the Good News of Jesus Christ to the Hilltribes and beyond.  In 2012, they left their business venture to pursue God’s calling for them in Thailand.  While living in Thailand from 2012 to 2015, the Lord blessed them with a wonderful child, KonMon Ku, who they welcomed into their family as their grandson.  Phoua’s life was marked with her love and generosity towards the needy that the Lord put in her life.  It is often said by her own natural born children, “ I’ll be walking around with mom and dad, and a complete stranger would run toward us yelling out ‘mom and dad!’ ”  Phoua was blessed by God with abundance and she shared her heart with everyone she met.  In 2015, Phoua moved back to the United States and resided in Ada, Michigan until the day she went to be with the Lord!  Phoua didn’t just give out of her abundance, but she gave it all to Christ.  It is said, “A woman of valor, who can find?  Her worth is far above jewels.”  In Phoua, we have found such a soul.
