Parker Spindle

Our hearts are heavy with our loss of Parker Lee Spindle, age 21, of East Grand Rapids who passed away on Wednesday, November 3, 2021.

Parker was an old soul for a young man, and understood better than anyone and even wrote once in an essay that “Everyone longs for human interaction. We all need companions. We all need to be recognized.”   

While he found peace with animals, especially with his dog Hendricks, his kind, genuine heart touched everyone he knew. His friends and family, whom he loved fiercely and loyally, were everything to him.

He was most himself when by Lake Michigan, on the soccer field, or casting a fishing line into the water. A perfect day for Parker would be at the beach of Lake Michigan, with great waves and glistening water; surrounded by his family, cousins, and best friends; listening to music, sharing random sports knowledge and cheering on the U of M. Parker was a 2019 graduate of East Grand Rapids High School and attended University of Dayton. 

Parker is survived by his parents, Robert Spindle and Jenell (Weiner) Spindle, and his younger brother Tyler. He also leaves behind his maternal grandfather, Philip “Grandpa” Weiner of Grand Rapids and his wife Nancy, his maternal grandmother, Becky “Nana” Weiner of Holland, paternal grandparents, David “Skeeter” and Judy “JuJu” Frey, eight aunts, eights uncles, and eighteen cousins. He is predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Richard Lee Spindle.

On Tuesday, November 9, 2021, the family will receive friends at the Forest Hills Fine Arts Center from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00. p.m.  A Celebration of Life service will immediately follow at 4:00 p.m., also at the Forest Hills Fine Arts Center, 600 Forest Hill Ave SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49546. As a way to honor Parker, all are encouraged to wear something blue, Parker’s favorite color, or pink in support of i understand, which represents everlasting love. 

Following the service, the family welcomes all of Parker’s friends and family to gather together to celebrate his life at the East Grand Rapids Yacht Club, 740 Lakeside Drive, Grand Rapids, MI 49506.
