Mary E. Van Ess

Mary E. Van Ess passed away to her heavenly home peacefully on Sunday June 13, 2021 at the age of 91.  She was born on February 9, 1930 in Grand Rapids to the late Howard and Ethel Kelly.  Mary will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 70 years Jack Van Ess, son Bill Van Ess, grandson Paul Van Ess, brother and sister-in-law Larry and Doris Kelly, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Gary and Judy Bylsma, sister-in-law Dolores Cooper and nieces and nephews, Lynn (David) Zevenbergen, Ken Kelly, Dan (Janice) Bylsma, Tom (Susan) Bylsma, Betsy (Russell) Kopp and Kate (Jim) Scheltema.  She was preceded in death by her son Jim Van Ess, daughter Susan Van Ess and nephew Jeff Cooper. 

Mary enjoyed sewing, playing bridge with her friends and golfing where she was a member at Green Ridge Country Club which later became Egypt Valley Country Club.  Mary also enjoyed traveling with her husband Jack to many golf tournaments.  She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed. 

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday June 17, 2021 at Central Reformed Church, 10 College Ave. NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49503 with visitation beginning at 10 A.M.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Central Reformed Church.
