Mary Elizabeth Moll, child of her Creator God, passed away peacefully on Pentecost Sunday, May 31, 2020. Mary is now forever joined with her beloved parents, M.J. (Bud) Moll and Josephine Sonneveldt Moll, sister, Janet Ruth Horlings, brother-in-law, Hal Horlings and niece, Ellie Marie Einfeld.
A 1970’s era feminist with an open-minded, non-conformist spirit, Mary worked happily for the Grand Rapids Public Schools and Grand Rapids Community College for thirty years. To be an independent working woman was essential to her sense of self. Her aesthetic sensibility, especially around design and fashion, was well-honed and exacting. She knew what was artistically true and what was merely superficial. Mary loved to laugh and tell humorous stories of growing up on the West Side of Grand Rapids, and those stories are forever in the hearts of her many friends and family.
Mary is survived by her daughters Elizabeth (Tim) Eklund and Mary Lynn (Mike) Helsel; grandchildren, Eric (Bridget) Eklund, Tenille Eklund, Andrew Helsel, and Max Helsel; great-grandchildren, Harper Eklund, Delanie Kesler-Eklund, Maura Eklund, Fiona Eklund, and Bailey Eklund.
She is also survived by her siblings Lori Jo (Kevin) Einfeld and Peter H. (Cynthia) Moll and many nieces and nephews.
The family offers their deepest thanks to the Raybrook Fourth Floor nursing staff for their phenomenally compassionate care.
In light of the Covid19 situation, a memorial service celebrating Mary’s life will held at a future date.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Raybrook Manor Resident Assistance Fund, 2100 Raybrook SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49546 will be much appreciated.
