Margaret Jones Obituary

Margaret L. Jones, 78, met Jesus Christ her Savior face to face on March 7, 2023. Marge loved God, and everywhere she went she shared the good news of salvation through faith in God's only Son, Jesus.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Johanna Jones, and daughter, Margie Elizabeth. Survived by her dear friend, Cheryl Johnson, Brother Ed (Dottie) Woodard, Sister, Phyllis "Pepper" (Wayne) Meulendyk, and children: Rick, Nathan, Vickie, Tim, Kara, Shonda, Laura, Rosie, Jeremy, Donald, Tess, Jackie, Kaitie, Cody, Bonnie, Simeon, Meika, Mahree, Spencer, Merica, and Sam; grandchildren Amal, Samadas, Jarvis, Luke, Lentee, Tyler, Katelyn, Jeremy, Kalel, and Amaya; and great grandchildren, Cash and Kayci, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. She also fostered over 75 children.
Her deepest desire was that all her children would love the LORD Jesus and want to serve Him with everything in them.
From early life, Marge loved children. She was constantly in demand as a babysitter, and she grew to love disabled folks through her work with Pine Rest's Southeast Center Sheltered Workshop.
Marge also worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse in Grand Rapids and in Bellflower, California. When it became apparent that God had chosen singlehood for her, she began adopting children. She once received the honor of Mother of the Year through a national agency as well as Adoptive Parent of the Year from Michigan Federation of Private Child and Family Agencies in 1996.
But Marge never sought out honor or praise for herself. When people would lift her up as a paragon or saint or model, she would instead point them to Jesus, by whose strength she was able to meet the daily demands of her household. A motto she liked is F.R.O.G. "Fully Rely On God".  As a result, Marge was given stuffed frogs, frog socks, and a wide variety of other frog merchandise. But it wasn't just a motto, it was the way Marge lived her life.
She will be sorely missed by her family, a multitude of friends, as well as the many whose lives were impacted by her service in Sunday School, AWANA, Vacation Bible Schools, 4-H, TOPS, and church.

A memorial service will be held for Marge on Friday, March 24, 2023 at 11:00 am, with a visitation one hour prior to the service, at Calvary Church, 707 East Beltline NE, Grand Rapids.
