Jeanne Wanner Obituary

Jeanne Wanner, age 93, a resident of Sunset Manor in Jenison, formerly of Hudsonville, Grandville and Grand Rapids, walked into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Friday, March 20, 2020. Jeanne was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on November 14, 1926, the daughter of Charles W. and Hattie (Brom) Fletcher. Jeanne began playing the violin in church at the age of four and continued playing until age 85.  On June 10, 1948 she was united in marriage to Lynn Lewis Wanner, her devoted husband of 64 years and ministry partner in performing Christian music. While raising a young family, Jeanne began teaching music at the Baptist Bible Institute (now Cornerstone University) then holding classes at Wealthy Street Baptist Church where she was a long-time member. She was a member of Calvary Church for the first twenty years of her life and over the past thirty years.

Surviving are one son, Samuel L. Wanner (Victoria); and one daughter, Tamara J. Corona (Anthony); five cherished grandchildren: Zachary L. Wanner (Leslie), Jordan L. Wanner (Laura), Sophia I. Corona, Francis A. Corona, and Lauren Corona-Johnson (Kevin).  Over the past 7 years, Jeanne delighted in her five great grandchildren: Zane Wanner, Calder Wanner, Onyx Wanner, Evangeline Wanner and Selah Wanner.  She was blessed by visits with niece Mary Ellen Wires (Larry) and nephew Larry Mahoney (Karen) with his daughter Becky.

A memorial service will be held at a date yet to be determined because of the Covid-19 situation in our nation.  A private family graveside service was held at Rest Lawn Memorial Park.

For those who wish, memorials may be made to the Lynn and Jeanne Wanner Charitable Gift Fund for Christian Education c/o Kim Mueller at Fifth Third Bank, 111 Lyon St NW Grand Rapids, MI 49503.
