Jacquelyn Newell TenHoor, age 84, went to be with her Heavenly Father on January 22, 2020 after a sudden illness. Jackie was born, raised and lived her life in Grand Rapids. She was a loving wife, devoted mother of two sons, and grandmother to two beautiful granddaughters. Jackie attended Ottawa High School, Michigan State University and later Aquinas College, where she obtained her Bachelors in Business attending classes while her children were in school. She later passed her examinations and became a successful stockbroker with EF Hutton in Grand Rapids. Jackie was married for 62 years to her husband Allen, also of Grand Rapids.
Jackie was a very active member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, where she served as an elder, deacon, and trustee. She also earned her Master Gardner Certification and passed on her love of flowers and plants through working with others as a volunteer at Meijer Gardens. Jackie served her faith and her community as president of the Porter Hills Guild until the time of her passing. Jackie loved watching sports and was an avid fan of all things Spartan, especially football and basketball. She remained an active member of the Delta Gamma sorority. She was also an avid reader, and loved to travel.
Jackie is survived by her husband Allen TenHoor; her son David TenHoor and daughter in law Janeen Judah (Houston, TX); daughter in law Kursten TenHoor, mother of her two grandchildren Caroline Grace, age 16, and Kate Elizabeth, age 12, all of Yarmouth, Maine. She was preceded in death by her son Christopher TenHoor.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Camp Henry c/o Westminster Presbyterian Church, 47 Jefferson Ave. SE, Grand Rapids MI, 49503 or to Faith Hospice at Trillium Woods, 8214 Pfeiffer Farms Dr SW, Byron Center, MI 49315. A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 31 at 11 AM at Westminster Presbyterian Church.
