Freddie Taylor Obituary

Fred Taylor, 55, of Georgetown Township, passed on Thursday, March 16th at 5:15 pm.
He passed away at St. Mary’s Hospital, due to cancer.
Fred was born in Springfield, Massachusetts to Theresa Taylor and Fred Taylor. He
grew up with his sister Christine Frank. As a teen he loved spending time fishing,
playing football, and working out. After highschool he joined the Marine Corps from
1983 to 1987, after he served he pursued and received a Master’s Degree in Earth
Science from Grand Valley State University. This sparked his passion for science which
led him to teach 8th grade Earth Science at Greenville Middle School. After a successful
completion of 5-6 years of teaching, he then continued his passion in science and
started his career in Waste Water Treatment in Grandville. After 10 years of working in
the science field, his passion shifted to the business world and proudly owned and
operated Lai Thai Kitchen in Grand Rapids with his wife.
In his 40s he met his wonderful wife Gi Taylor. They fell in love after meeting each other
at his high school reunion in West Palm Beach, Florida. Within two years they decided
to get married and begin their new life with each other on December 2nd, 2011.
Together their favorite thing to do was travel around the country and the world, visit
museums and try all local foods. Fred raised 3 children of his own, Gregory (32),
Bradley (25), and Morgan (23) and was a stepfather to Gi’s children Thiraphon (27), and
Worapong (24). Fred always believed in being a strong head of household and always
put his family first.
In addition to his wife Gi, and his children Gregory, Bradley, Morgan, Thiraphon and
Worapong, Fred is survived by his Mother, Theresa, Sister, Christine, Gregory’s wife,
Briana, Grandaughter Hayleigh, Bradley’s wife, Harley, Grandchildren Jace and Audrey,
Morgan’s spouse, Jack, Thiraphon’s wife, Pennapa, Worapong’s wife, Sasiwara. He
was preceded in passing by his Father, Freddie Euguene Taylor II and his Grandfather
Freddie Euguene Taylor.
The funeral service will be held at Calvary Church on East Beltline in Grand Rapids on
Thursday, March 23rd 2023, at 11:00 am. There will be a visitation at the same location
beginning at 10:00 am. His family will be present to welcome loved ones.
