Donald Eugene Ohl, age 90, of Byron Center entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior on Monday, September 19, 2022. Donald was born on July 13, 1932 in Bucyrus, Ohio to the late Kermit and Helen Ohl. He graduated from Lansing Everett High School and received his Bachelor’s Degree in political science from Michigan State University. Donald served in the US Army from 1955-57 primarily at the 97thGeneral Hospital in Frankfort Germany. After the Army he went back to Michigan State University, obtaining his Master’s Degree in Public Administration.
For over 20 years, Donald taught in the Grand Rapids School systems. Following his retirement from teaching he spent 20 years as a merchandiser for JC Penny. He was a member of Central Reformed Church, was an avid MSU football and basketball fan and enjoyed photography, stamp and coin collecting and reading. Donald was a loving husband and father who will be greatly missed. He is survived by his daughter, Sandra (John) Coleman, son, David Ohl, one brother-in-law, Carl (Nancy) Puehl Jr.; 2 nieces and 2 nephews, Brian, Robin, Carl and Teresa and several great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Lois in 2015.
