Charles Minor Obituary

Charles Venable Minor, beloved brother, uncle and friend, died on May 24, 2021, four days shy of his 69th birthday. Charles will forever be affectionately remembered by friends and family as “Ven.” He is preceded in death by his loving parents, John Truslow and Elspeth Stuart Minor.

A product of East Grand Rapids, MI, Ven attended Lakeside Elementary, EGR Junior High School and East Grand Rapids High School as a freshman before attending Millbrook School in Millbrook, New York. He attended Thomas Jefferson College at Grand Valley State College where he studied music composition, later attending Drew University in Madison,  NJ.

Ven was quiet, sometimes arrogant, but always brilliant and witty. His passions were reading, listening to music, especially classical music, and all forms of art. Family memories of Ven include traveling together, having lunch at Roses or dinner at One Trick Pony and laughing for hours.

He loved New York City where he lived for 20 years enjoying the arts and honing his wit.

Ven is survived by his brother John and sister-in-law Betsy of Chicago, and his sister Mary of New York City. He will be deeply missed by all that knew him.  In lieu of flowers, his family asks that any donations be made to Hospice of Michigan.
