Carl Hugo Kutsche Jr passed peacefully on Saturday, April 23 2022, surrounded by family - he was 91 years old. Hugo was born in Grand Rapids on Oct 30, 1930 to Carl and Marjorie Kutsche, and he is the beloved last of his family’s generation. He is survived by his second wife, Helen Anderson-Kutsche, and two sons Carl Kutsche (Jaishree Varadaraj) and Bruce Kutsche (Debbie Pranger), six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. His stepchildren, Edward, Lori, David, Carl Anderson, and Valerie Fanshier will also miss him greatly. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Leanore Kutsche, and his brother William Kutsche. Hugo was a graduate of East Grand Rapids high school and Michigan State University. He is a veteran of the Korean War, serving as an officer in the Air Force and the Atomic Energy Commission. Hugo left the service to take over the family business, Kutsche’s Hardware and Industrial Supply company. Following the sale of the Hardware, he founded General Manufacturing Tool and Die Supply company. He was also a real-estate development partner and a building design sales engineer. Hugo was a founding member of Mayflower Congregational Church, a founding member of the Grass Lake Hunting and Fishing Club, and a lifelong member of the Kent County Conservation Club and the American Legion Post 311.
A memorial visitation will be held Thursday April 28, from 5-8 pm at Metcalf-Jonkhoff Funeral Home.
