William “Bill” Grant McClimans, of Grand Rapids, MI, died peacefully on October 13, 2020. He was born in Greenville, PA on September 27, 1924, to John and Pauline McClimans. Along with his parents, Bill had four brothers and a sister, all who predeceased him. Following graduation, Bill moved to Hawaii and worked in the insurance industry before landing a position at Pan American World Airways. During his 10-year residence in Hawaii, he was called to duty in the Army and served in Korea during the Korean War. Following his service, Bill returned to Hawaii where he met his wife, Marcia Warnshuis, who also worked at Pan Am and stalked him throughout the beaches of Waikiki. They were married in Hawaii in 1955, and in 1956 moved to Grand Rapids where Bill worked with his father-in-law, Roger Warnshuis, Sr., at Merchants Service Bureau. Through the Bureau, he would serve as the Executive Secretary of the Kent County Medical Society and Executive Director of the Kent Medical Foundation for 32 years until his retirement in 1989. Bill was also predeceased by his brother-in-law Roger Warnshuis, Jr. and his wife Luella, and sister-in-law Mary Gwen Warnhuis. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Marcia, his sons, William G. “Chip” McClimans, Jr. and David (Katie) McClimans, grandchildren Samantha (Adam) Bradley, Jef (Dani) McClimans, Maxwell McClimans, and Veronica McClimans, and great-grandchildren Georgia and Lyla Bradley and Madeleine McClimans, nieces Beth Warnshuis Shimko and Jane Warnshuis Heiden, along with many other nieces, nephews and cousins on the McClimans side of the family. In keeping with his wishes, there will be a private family service. Memorial remembrances may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 2700 East Fulton, Grand Rapids, MI 49506, or a charity of one’s choice.
