Barbara Jean (Taylor) Markus

From riding horses on the farm in Indiana in the early 20th century to a family, professional career, and long healthy retirement - Barbara Taylor Markus peacefully departed this life for the next in the early morning of July 29th, 2022. Preceding her death was her husband Harry in 1993. 

The richness of her 103 years on this earth included four children Tom (deceased) and Kathy, Cindy, John (deceased), and Jim & Barbara. Ten grandchildren; Emily, Ashley, Scott, Christopher, Jesse, Bridgett, David, Duncan, Angus, and Sam. Plus, five great grandchildren Viola, Monty, Betsy, Harrison, Phineas and a sixth, Hayes, due any day now. 

Though her life was punctuated by grief, mom never ceased to look forward. She walked as much as she could, and was an admitted "chocoholic" preferring the dark variety. She had an innate, highly developed sense of right and wrong which never wavered. 

Barbara (mom) relied upon her deep faith, and lived a prayerful life of service to family and East Minster Presbyterian Church. She amazed people her whole life, yet remained humble. She was a voracious reader even years after losing much of her eye sight with the aid of a reading machine. In lieu of flowers, donations to Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired at 456 Cherry St, SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49503 would be appreciated. 

Out of consideration of the health risks from indoor gatherings there will not be any visitation or service.
