Anita E. Alverson

Anita E. Alverson, of Grand Rapids, peacefully crossed over into the arms of Jesus on Monday May 2, 2022 at the age of 92. 

Anita was born in Olympia Washington on September 19, 1929 to Lester and Evelyn Chilson.  She was a graduate of Olympia High School in 1947, where she met her husband of 71 years Willard.  Willard and Anita were home coming King and Queen of their graduating class and married two years later in 1949.  Anita was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church Grand Rapids, and PEO International Sisterhood.

Anita was preceded in death by her husband Col. Willard Alverson.  Surviving are her two sons, Larry (Averie) of Grand Rapids and Gary Alverson of Carlsbad CA, her brother John Chilson, five grandchildren, Bill Alverson, Betsy (Justin) Binish, Aaron (Makaila) Alverson, Alysha (Aaron) Carter, Marissa Alverson and five great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday May 7, at 10:00 am, with a visitation from 9:00 am until time of service, at  the Metcalf & Jonkhoff Funeral Home.
