Mark Johnson, age 76, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on March 8, 2018. Mark was a graduate of Ottawa Hills High School and then went on to run his grandfather’s business, Eckberg Motor Rebuilding. In his work he was known for his honesty, kindness and extraordinary customer service. Mark was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church, serving on numerous committees and as a member of the choir. Mark's life was defined by gently loving and serving others, constantly putting the needs of others above his own. He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to make people laugh. Mark loved the Lord and his family with all of his heart.
Mark is survived by his wife of 47 years, Mary (Brill) Johnson; daughters, Karin (Antoine) Neal, Melissa (Jason) Reiffer; grandchildren, Ashlie Johnson, Nathan, Kayla and Austin Reiffer, and Charleah Neal; mother, Hulda Johnson; sisters and brother, Kathy (Dale) Sommers, Marcia (John) Baranyi, Jim (Kim) Johnson; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dick (Mary) Brill; many nieces and nephews; and best friends, John and Sue Sullivan. Mark was preceded in death by his father, Leon Johnson, father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Martha Brill, and infant daughter, Julie.
The family will greet family and friends on Monday, March 12, 2018 from 3-5 PM and 7-9 PM at Metcalf & Jonkhoff Funeral Service (4294 Cascade Road SE). The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at 11:00 AM, at Trinity Lutheran Church, (2700 Fulton Street East), with Pastor Robert Linstrom presiding. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.
