Marcia Lou (Gray) Cook

Marcia Lou Gray Cook of Holland, MI passed away suddenly on January 2, 2019.  Mrs. Cook was born in Petoskey, MI on September 23, 1930, the daughter of Lillian and Lawrence Gray. She graduated from Petoskey High School and Michigan State University. She met her husband Ken at MSU and they married on September 19, 1953. They lived in East Grand Rapids for almost 20 years where they raised their 2 children.  Marcia was a very involved room mother at Lakeside and Breton Downs Elementary schools.  During those years she and Ken enjoyed sailing on Lake Michigan.  They moved to Holland in 1976.  Marcia was an avid Spartan fan and watched every football and basketball game.  She also enjoyed sewing, reading and art.  Marcia had the gift of gab - she loved chatting with neighbors as she walked to the mailbox or with those who dropped by for a visit.  Whether it was the staff at the dentist’s office, in the checkout line or at the pharmacy at D&W or her favorite sales associates at Younkers, she always greeted them with hugs and truly cared about them. Above all Marcia loved her family.  She is survived by her children, Karen (Michael) Lindley, Kevin (Dee) Cook, her 4 beautiful grandchildren, Kristen and Chase Lindley, and Brent and Parker Cook, as well as her 2 cousins, and 5 nieces and nephews.  The family will greet friends on Sunday, January 27 at 11:00 A.M. at Boatwerks in Holland, MI.  For those who wish, memorials may be sent to Bibles for Missions Thrift Centers, 3386 Central Blvd., Hudsonville, MI 49426, with a notation on checks "Holland North".
