The Rev. Kenneth D. McCaw, retired United Methodist pastor, died September 5, 2019 at the age of 85. Ken retired from Kalamazoo First United Methodist Church in 2000 after 42 years in ministry. Ken also previously served as District Superintendent for the Kalamazoo District of the United Methodist Church and in several churches in West Michigan.
Ken was preceded in death by parents, Ruth and Russell McCaw and in-laws Helen Alles Feenstra and Duane Smith. He is survived by his wife, Jeanne Smith McCaw of 64 years of marriage. Daughters, Mara (Carl) Marsman and Kristin (Owen) Motter, brother, R. Lewis (MaryBeth) McCaw, five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren, brothers-in-law, Stephen (Barbara) Smith and James Smith, sisters-in-law, Janet Smith (Russ) Fox and Jacquelynn Smith (Dan) VanderLugt.
Memorial visitation will be held on Monday September 9, 2019, from 4 pm to 7 pm at Metcalf & Jonkhoff Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday September 10, 2019, 11 am at First United Methodist Church, 227 Fulton St. E, Grand Rapids, MI. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Faith Hospice, Clark Retirement Benevolent Fund or First United Methodist Church, Grand Rapids.
