Edmund DeBruyn Obituary

Edmund T. DeBruyn, age 87, of Grand Rapids went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, December 6, 2019. Ed was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Nancy, and his sister, Shirley Lehmann. Surviving are his daughter, Jamie DeBruyn; his grandson, Andrew DeBruyn; “adopted” sons and daughters, Bob and Brenda Austin, Kevin and Kari Baker; his sister, Laurie Droge; brother-in-law, Maury Lehmann; nieces, nephews, and friends. He was a proud veteran of the Navy and a longtime member of Calvary Church. He had a great love for Big Star Lake, aviation and was a private pilot. A special thank you for the care provided by Atrio’s caregiver, Comfort Jigo, who quickly became a friend and was truly an “Earthly Angel” and the staff at Marywood Health Center. Memorial funeral services will be held beginning at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 10th at Calvary Church Chapel, 707 East Beltline.  Friends may meet the family on Monday, December 9th from 1:00-3:00 p.m. and from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Metcalf & Jonkhoff Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be given in Ed’s name to Hope for the World (orphans of Albania) or Melanoma Research Foundation.
