Andrew Elliot Dennen passed away comfortably on August 3 after a brave fight with brain cancer at age 68. He is survived by his daughter, Lacie (Brandon), granddaughter Celes; sister, Joy (Joe) Scher and brother, Pete (Davida) Dennen; and wife, Lisa Bullis. Andy was born to Cyron & Leah Dennen on Dec 17, 1950 in GR. He attended East Grand Rapids High School and graduated with a BS in business from Arizona State University. Andrew loved music and was an accomplished guitar player.
In 1980, he started a long career of almost 40 years in the steel industry. Partnering with his Uncle Philmore, they restarted Dennen Steel Corp, which had been sold by his father in 1976. Andrew eventually became President & CEO when his uncle retired. Over the next 20 years, he transitioned Dennen Steel Corp. from a traditional steel service center into a metal stamping business with locations in Grand Rapids, MI & Burns Harbor, IN.
Andrew never lost his love for music and continued to play guitar with his friends on a regular basis. His other great love in the later years of his life was spending time with his granddaughter Celes, doting over her and taking her on many adventures together.
A service will be held at Temple Emanuel, 1715 Fulton Street East, Grand Rapids, MI on Monday, August 5, 2019 at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Jewish Federation of Grand Rapids, Temple Emanuel or Amnesty International.
