Pete Persons

Peter V. Persons, of Grand Rapids, passed away on September 30th, 2022. 

Pete is survived by his children Vinton (Mari) Persons and Susan (David) Pomper, grandchildren Brynlee (Bryce) Carlton, Keaton (Colleen) Pomper, Maggie Persons, and Katie Persons, as well as his great-grandchild, Abe. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Jeannie.

Pete was born in Vermont, and moved to Grand Rapids with Connecticut General in 1969 as an agent.  He continued his financial planning career well into his 70s with RW Baird.  This career provided Pete with many lifelong friendships.  He served as a deacon of Eastminster Presbyterian Church and later usher at Westminster Presbyterian church.  In his later years, the friendships made at the Great Lake Shipping “Supper Club” and Watermark Country Club provided Pete friendships and happiness.  Pete loved golf, coaching softball, playing basketball, downhill skiing, fishing trips in Canada, celebrating anything in which his grandchildren participated, and cats and dogs of all kinds. His proudest accomplishment in this life he created was his devoted family who will miss him dearly. 

Visitation will be held at the Metcalf & Jonkhoff Funeral Home 4291 Cascade Rd. SE on Monday, October 3rd, 3-5:30pm. Donations may be offered to Help From My Friends Pet Crisis Center 3605 S Derenzy Rd, Bellaire, MI 49615.
