Jay Austin, 62, of Cascade, Michigan passed away on Saturday, June 25, 2022.
Jay was born in Port Huron, Michigan on December 28 1959 and was the son of Catherine and Richard Austin.
He grew up in Owosso and attended Michigan State University graduating with a BBA in Market Research. He accepted a position with Accenture in Detroit, and later moved with his family to Toronto, Canada. He lived and raised his family in Toronto before returning to Michigan in 2015.
Jay was an avid adventure seeker, who loved to mountain bike, hike, camp, waterski, windsurf and snowboard. He was always seeking new places to go and explore. Jay’s favorite place to be was the family cottage on Eight Point Lake, which was a part of his life from childhood.
Jay was a devoted father and worked with youth throughout his life; in college as a YMCA camp director and in adulthood as a youth group leader. He had the gift of fun, and connected easily with teenagers.
Jay is survived by his wife Debbie, daughter Ashley Austin of Chicago, Illinois and son Alex Austin of Denver, Colorado, brothers James (Barb) Austin and Jon (Lori) Austin, and sisters Jane (Terry) Christine, June (Kelly) Noel and Julie (Brett) Vanderwater, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at the Metcalf & Jonkhoff Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 29th from 5 to 7 pm and at Ada Bible Church - Cascade Campus on Thursday June 30, from 10 to 11 am. The funeral service will be held at Ada Bible Church at 11 am with a luncheon to follow. Interment will be at the Cascade Township Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to The National Parks Foundation, The American Heart Association, or World Mission Inc.
