David Lawrence Stickney passed away peacefully Saturday March 21st, 2020 at Samaritas/The Woods. He was born in Detroit on July 2nd, 1936 to Richard and Virginia Stickney. David attended Central High School and graduated from the University of Michigan. It was there that he joined the Sigma Chi Fraternity where he made many lifelong friends. He married the love of his life Mary Brooke Hall on February 18th, 1961. He began his career in sales working for Keeler Brass Co. for many years where he became the Vice President of Automotive. He then went on to be a founding partner in CRS Sales. Dave had countless hobbies, gin rummy, reading, bird watching, gardening, travel, golf, jazz, and any sport with a racket. He had a great group of golf and tennis buddies for years. Before moving to Grand Rapids David lived in Birmingham, MI for 11 years. David also enjoyed his time in Boca Grande & Captiva Florida, where he enjoyed countless sunsets, grouper sandwiches, and a good slice of key lime pie. He was also a member of Kent Country Club, The Penn Club where he served as President, and was a Board member at St. Mary's Mercy Hospital. But Dave's "happy place" was his home whether he was reading in his favorite chair, listening to a Cubs game on the porch, working in the yard, or watching a University of Michigan football game. He also loved his dogs and he loved his family. He went above and beyond to make his family happy. He is survived by his wife Mary; two children, Anne Tasker (Tom) and Jon Stickney (Sarah); three grandchildren who will always remember him as "Train Pa" and who instilled the love of University of Michigan sports. Tanner, David (Harrison) who he was named after, and Chase who proceeded him in death. Brother and sister-in-law George and Kathy Buursma; nephew, Tim Buursma (Dawn) and his children Madi, Kenzie (Craig) Morgan, and Sam; nephew Ted Buursma and his son Clay; cousin Judy Jackson (Mike) and countless lifelong friends. The family would like to thank the staff at Samaritas/The Woods especially his "girls" Sam and Cassie. He will be deeply missed by so many.........
