Cheryl Lynn Hellar

Cheryl Hellar, age 63, of Grand Rapids passed away peacefully, surrounded by family in her home on November Fourteenth of 2020. Born February Twenty Fourth of 1957 to Charles and Arlyle Phipps, Cheryl is the youngest of Ten children. She is proceeded in death by her husband George Hellar, parents Charles and Arlyle Phipps, brothers  Gerald and Gale Phipps, and sister Janice Graves. She is survived by her step-daughter Rebecca (Brian) Bowden, Sister Delberta Windiate of Interlocken, Sister Ethel (Rob) Palmer of Cedar Springs, Brother Alex (Deb) Phipps of Crystal, Brother Craig (Diane) Phipps of Cedar Springs, Sister Geneva (John) Dean of Sand Lake, and Sister Valerie Green of Belding, and many nieces and nephews. Born and raised in Reed City, Michigan Cheryl enjoyed helping her Grandpa dig for worms and playing outdoor games with friends and neighbors when she was a young child. A hard working woman she worked at Bissel, CSM, and Steelcase. As she was working for CSM she met the love of her life, George Hellar. She and George married in 2007 and enjoyed many years of travel through and out of the country. In particular, she loved traveling to Lake Superior in Michigan, and whale watching in California. George and Cheryl were members of Cascade Fellowship, and created a wonderful friendship with Pastor Milton Doornbos, and his wife Jeanne. The family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to Rebecca and Brian Bowden, and Rebecca's Mother Linda Edwards, for the care provided in Cheryl's last moments in life.  In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Spectrum Health Hospice, as they also provided excellent care and support for Cheryl's passing.  A memorial service for Cheryl will be held on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at Noon at the funeral home.
