Daniel Cameron Robertson III, of Grand Rapids, Michigan, age 77, went home to his heavenly father on Thursday, May 23, 2019. He was at his home surrounded by his immediate family: Karen, wife of 55+ years, along with his four children.
Born May 25, 1941 in Chicago, IL, he was the son of the late Daniel Cameron Jr. and Ramona Robertson. Dan “Boompa, Big Eagle or LT” attended Main Township High School in Park Ridge, Illinois, Michigan State University and then served as Lieutenant in the U.S. Army. He later moved to Grand Rapids, was proud to work for Gordon Food Service for 34 years, and retired in 2005. Dan was heavily involved in the Indian Guide and Indian Princess YMCA programs, as well as bringing soccer fields to Cascade Township Park, and honored as Food Distributor of the Year for GRCC. In his spare time, he and Karen could be found at any one of his four children or eight grandchildren’s events – sporting, music, dance - traveling or actively volunteering at Cascade Christian Church. His love of golf found him regularly on the course in sun, rain, snow or all the above.
He is survived by his loving wife Karen, and proud children Daniel C. (Joy) Robertson IV, Heather (Charles) Bacle, Holly (Dana) Froumis and Scott (Amy) Robertson. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Sarah (Jack) Peterson, Rebecca Robertson, Charlie and Emma Bacle, Daniel and Claire Froumis, Joseph and Jacob Robertson, his two siblings, Roberta Dorsey and Douglas Robertson, sister-in-law Gloria (the late Ken) Linane, brother-in-law Robert (Sue) Wulff and many nieces and nephews.
