Winifred May Van Hill

Winifred "Winnie" May Van Hill, aged 82 of Grand Rapids, passed away Saturday, August 20, 2016. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward (Ed) Van Hill; their son Eddie and daughter Ilene Slawson; her mother Augusta Omta (Oord) & father Derk Omta; brother in-law Virgil Michael and Nick Friend; brother in-law Al and Rich Van Hill; sister in-law Joan Van Hill; her brothers John, Bill and Martin Omta; sisters Irene Michael and Rose Katte; sister in-law Nellie DeJong; her grandchild Paula Slawson. She is survived by daughters Sandra and Willem Knoester, Beverly and James Veeneman; her grandchildren Joseph Herp; Heather and Josh Mcombs, Michelle and Jack Pruis, Pamela and Michael Alofs, Patrick Slawson, Alissa and Eric Veeneman, her great grandchildren RJ Herp, Kaela, Saige, Ian, and Devon Redd, Marissa Buitendyk, Aaralyn and Remy Pruis, Anikka and Jayden Slawson; Winnie’s brothers and sisters, Byron Omta Lela Omta, Howard and Wilma Lightfoot, James and Gail Omta, John Katte, Richard and Marjory Omta, and Norma Friend, sister in law Carol Omta, Ed’s brothers and sisters Gary and Carolyn Van Hill, Gary and Daisy Spronk, Sam De Jong, John and Joan Van Hill, and Glenda Van Hill. A graveside service and memorial will be held Wednesday August 24th at 10:00AM for family and friends at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, 2894 Patterson Road, SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49508, with Pastor Bill Reinkema (of Cutlerville Christian Reformed Church).
