Patricia (deMarrais) Waddon

 Patricia (deMarrais) Waddon, age 89, of Grand Rapids passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 24, 2016, at the Porter Hills Health Center.

Patricia was born in Oradell, NJ, on October 10,1926, the daughter of Leroy and Florence deMarrais.   Patricia graduated from Oradell HS class of 1945 and worked as a secretary in NYC.  In September 1947, she wed Jack R. Waddon and moved to Montclair, NJ. Patricia and Jack lived in Livingston, NJ where Jack taught high school and Patricia worked at the Livingston Schools Board of Education.  After the death of her husband in 1999, Patricia moved to Grand Rapids in 2002 to be closer to family.

Patricia was an active member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and her retirement community at Porter Hills Village.  She was a gentle, loving person who exuded a positive spirit, good humor and always wore a welcoming smile.  Patricia loved to sing, especially in her church choirs and was a proud participant with the Porter Hills Singers since their inception.  She had a special love for children of all ages.  All who knew her will miss Patricia and her family is so grateful for the kind and loving attention she received at Porter Hills.   

Patricia is survived by her daughter Nancy W. (Gerard) Hickey, East Grand Rapids, MI, Bruce (Rose) Waddon, Goodyear, AZ and Gail Waddon and Scott Lumnah, Franklin, MA.  She is also survived by five grandchildren: Matthew (Shari) Waddon of San Diego, CA, Erin (Michael) Foti of Franklin, MA, Eric Waddon, Arlington, Virginia, Julia Hickey, Chicago, IL and Caroline Hickey, East Grand Rapids, MI and two cherished great grandbabies, Amelia Foti and Zachary Waddon and a very special friend Dr. William Kinkade.    Patricia’s surviving brother David (Jody) deMarrais resides in Winter Park, FL.  

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, September 23, 2016, at the Meeting House at Porter Hills, 3600 East Fulton St., Grand Rapids.
