Lois Jean Ohl, age 78, of Byron Center passed away on Friday, May 1, 2015 at her home and entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior. Lois was born on January 6, 1937 in Grand Rapids, the daughter of Charles and Dorothy (Paine) Puehl. She graduated from South High School, class of 1955, and received her B.A. degree from Hope College in 1959. For many years Lois taught elementary school in the Godwin Heights, Saginaw and the Grand Rapids School systems. She was a life-long member of Central Reformed Church. Above all else, her love in life were the children she taught, her church and her family. Surviving are her husband of 50 years, Donald Ohl; their two children, daughter, Sandra Ohl, and son, David (Lucinda) Ohl; 3 grandchildren, Drew, Collin and Avery; one brother, Carl (Nancy) Puehl Jr.; 2 nieces and 2 nephews, Brian, Robin, Carl and Teresa and several great-nieces and nephews. Lois was preceded in death by her sister, Sally Moerdyk. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the Metcalf and Jonkhoff Funeral Service where a memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. with her pastor Dr. Louis Lotz officiating.
