Jean B. Doyle

Jean Patricia Birney Doyle, 101, of Grand Rapids, passed away on Monday February 20th. at her home.

Jean Doyle was a person of great faith who remained interested in world events and the evolution of mankind and the human spirit.  She challenged us to think of things in a more profound and global way.  We have been touched by her grace and determination to make this world a better place.  ‘That we all may be as One’. She was a great liberal thinker and listener who reconciled her faith with new ideas to evolve and grow. She was a child of the depression who raised 12 kids and read philosophy. She will be dearly missed, but lives on in our hearts. 

Mrs. Doyle is preceded in death by her husband Del J Doyle, son Thomas B Doyle & daughter Susan M TerBurgh. She is survived by her sister Mary Ann Spaan – and by her children, Patricia Szura (Larry), Maureen Doyle, John Doyle (Kathleen), Kathleen Richter (Ronald), William Doyle (Gary Wadsworth), Sarah Ann Doyle, Mary Jo Carrier (Rick), Eileen Doyle (Albert Dy), Michael Doyle (Audrey), Timothy Doyle (Tom Doane), & daughters in law Julie Doyle and Theresa Doyle. Mrs. Doyle had 25 precious grandchildren: Delmas Szura, Matthew Szura, Meg Fischer, A.J. Szura, Louis Szura, Joseph Szura, Michael Patrick Doyle, Sean Doyle, Timothy Doyle, Sheila Tremblay, Jean Doyle, Michael Owen Doyle, Jenny Doyle, Brendan Doyle, Karen Racz, Brian Richter, Mark Richter, Christine Owczarzak, Peter TerBurgh, Bill TerBurgh, Bethann TerBurgh, Rachel Carrier, Lukas Carrier, Shannon Heads, Del Doyle and 32 great-grandchildren whom she loved deeply.

A Celebration of Jean’s life will be held on Saturday March 4th. at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. The family will greet friends an hour before the Mass at church from 10 to 11 a.m on Saturday.  Interment will be private.
