James Lee Pranger

 James Lee Pranger, age 79, of Grand Rapids and formerly of Muskegon passed away on Sunday, April 15, 2018 with his family at his side.  Mr. Pranger was born on January 1, 1939 in Muskegon, the son of Gerrit and Rosie Pranger. He graduated from Muskegon High School and Michigan State University where he received his BA Degree and was a member of the Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity. James spent his working career in retail management, retiring from Meijer Incorporated in 2003. He and his wife were former members of Hope Reformed, and presently attended Forest Hills Presbyterian Church. An avid golfer, he was a member of Scott Lake Country Club. He was also a prolific reader, spent many hours on his computer, but found the most joy in his family.  Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Judith Pranger (nee Olson); three daughters, Lynda Fillmann (Jeff Crider), Deborah Pranger (Bruce Kutsche) and Pamela Bellner (Scott); six grandchildren, Jamie Dunn (Justin), Michael Norman, Margaret Fillmann and her fiancé Eric Andonian, Alexandra Fillmann, Sofie Bellner and Estelle Bellner; two great-grandchildren, Easton Dunn and Blayke Dunn; one sister, Mary Birr (William) and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.  Funeral services will be held at the Metcalf & Jonkhoff Funeral Home 11:00 a.m. on Friday with Pastor Jim Pollard officiating.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday.  Interment will take place at Sunrise Memorial Gardens, Muskegon at 3:00 p.m. Friday. For those who wish memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Salvation Army.
