James P. Cole

James Phillip Cole passed away Monday, October 9, 2017, at the age of 73. He was born on January 31, 1944, in Hastings to the late Forest and Martha Jane Cole. Jim will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 43 years Kathleen Cole, daughters Jill (Eric) Bert, Jennifer Reuss; grandchildren Cameron Bert, Caitlyn Bert, Ryann Reuss; sisters Janice (Neil) Leonard, Carol (Donald) Dawe, brother-in-law Brent (Patricia) Carleton and numerous nephews, cousins and friends. Jim spent his entire career in the shoe industry working with Craddock-Terry Shoe Company, Wolverine World Wide and 22 years as a sales rep and territory manager with Johnston & Murphy Shoe Co. He was an Elks Life Member #48 and a member of the Free Mason Grand Lodge #34. Jim was an avid fan of Michigan and the Red Wings and loved to fish, hunt, and travel. Jim was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who will be greatly missed. Special thanks to the Interventional Radiology Staff at Lemmen-Holton and Dr. Sangjin Lee and staff for the wonderful care provided for Jim. Family and friends are invited to share memories at a celebration of life for Jim on Sunday, October 15th from 3-5pm in the Shore Room at Watermark Country Club, 5500 Cascade Rd. SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49546. Memorial contributions may be made to Spectrum Health-Lemmen-Holton or to the American Heart Association.
