Ethyl K. Ellis-Staley

Ethyl Karl Ellis-Staley, 85 of Sedalia, died Saturday May 21, 2016 at her home.

Mrs. Staley was born April 17, 1931 in Sedalia, the daughter of the late John W. and Jeanette Finnel Starke. She married Michael E. Ellis, M.D., who preceded her in death. On May 28, 1994 in Sedalia, she married Edward Staley, who survives of the home.

Ethyl was raised and educated in Sedalia and was a graduate of Smith-Cotton High School. She entered the RN program at St. Louis University School of Nursing, where she met her first husband Michael Ellis. They lived in Grand Rapids, MI until his death. She moved to St. Petersburg, FL, and later returned to Sedalia where she met her second husband Edward Staley. Ethyl loved to ballroom dance, and was a loving mother and sister.

Besides her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Georgette Schmaltz of Wichita, KS and Karla Fisher of Glen Gardner, NJ; two brothers, Bobby Starke of Warsaw and and John Starke of Sedalia; one uncle, James Starke of Sedalia; and four grandchildren.

Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Grand Rapids, MI at a later date. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America.
