Edward H. Medley

Edward Medley passed away on Friday May 20, 2016 in Grand Rapids, MI just shy of his 99th birthday.  He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Frieda, in February 2009 and daughter Nadine in June 2013.  Survived by his children, daughter Julie Medley and granddaughter Brooke Medley of Lexington MA, son David of Okemos, MI and son Paul (Sherry) of Berkley, MI.  Edward was born June 15, 1917 in Salamanca, NY. Following his mothers death, he grew up in a children’s home.  Against the odds, after one year in a TB sanatorium, he put himself through school graduating from the University of Cincinnati with an Electrical Engineering degree and later a Masters degree from Michigan State University.  Visitation will be Wednesday, May 25 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.  Funeral service will be Thursday, May 26 11:00 am at Trinity Lutheran Church, 2700 Fulton St E., Grand Rapids.  Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church where he was a member for nearly 70 years.  Edward was loved by many for his generosity, optimism and sense of humor.
