Charles R. Fuller, age 92 of Cook Valley Estates and formerly of East Grand Raids passed into the next dimension February 20th, 2017.  Chuck is now pumping iron with Jesus and Buddha and all those other guys “up there.”  He was preceded in death by his daughter Martha, his sister Helen Fuller Smith, and his brother General Lawrence Fuller.  He is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years, Bette Jane (DeGood) Fuller; three sons; Robert, PhD (Kathy), Thomas, PhD (Mary), John, JD (Melissa); six grandchildren: Rachel (Todd), Andrew, Bryan (Natalie), Matt, Kyle, Jack; and seven great grandchildren: Emma, Will, Sam, Evelyn, Louis, Alexandra and Lucas.

Chuck graduated from South High School in 1942, Grand Rapids Junior College in 1947, and the University of Michigan in 1949.  He spent three years in the U.S. Army during World War II including infantry combat during the Battle of the Bulge in Belgium where he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for valor.  While in the Army he also attended St. John’s University in Brooklyn and Biarritz University in France.

His forty year business career was as a real estate analyst and appraiser.  He held the MAI appraisal designation and was a member of the national board of governors of the Appraisal Society.  Locally he was a member of the Grand Rapids Real Estate Board, the Downtown Rotary Club, the University Club, the West Michigan Jazz Society, the Grand Rapids Historical Society, and the Audubon Society.  His major sport activities were weightlifting and body building, which he started at age 13 and continued throughout life.

Chuck’s Last Words:  “Dying is easy, parking is hard.”

A celebration of Chuck’s life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Faith Hospice, the Porter Hills Foundation, or Planned Parenthood of Michigan.
