Anne K. Heyl

October 14, 1918 ~ September 30, 2015 (age 96) 96 Years Old

Anne Kingston Heyl, 96, passed away peacefully in her home on September 30.  Anne was born October 14, 1918 at Blodgett Hospital in Grand Rapids, MI, the daughter of George and Irene Kingston.  She attended Ottawa Hills and graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Michigan.  She was affiliated with Chi Omega sorority.  Her beloved husband of 68 years, Henry Bradshaw Heyl, preceded her in death in 2009.  Anne and Brad built a cottage at The Wilderness on Lake Michigan and loved spending the summers there.   Anne was a lifelong member of Westminster Church where she was a deacon and member of Eaton Circle.  She was one of the original counselors at Camp Henry where she taught archery and was a lifelong supporter of Camp Henry.  Anne was an active volunteer with the Minnie Cumnock Guild at Blodgett Hospital and the Women’s City Club.  Anne was known for her love of nature and all kinds of animals. She supported the Humane Society, Land Conservancy of West Michigan and many other organizations.  Anne was a talented watercolor painter and writer (she wrote her memoirs in her 80’s), and was an avid University of Michigan football and basketball and Detroit Tigers fan.   Anne will be remembered and loved for her wonderful sense of humor and for her caring, generosity, and many kindnesses to friends and family.  Anne was preceded in death by her son, Brad Heyl Jr and granddaughter, Cassandra Heyl. She is survived by her three daughters, Ginny (Kirk deceased) Beauregard, Janet (John) Vail, Nancy (Steve) Minard, 2 grandchildren, Katharine Beauregard O'Neal (Ben),  Jonathon Minard, and one great grandchild, Grace Anne O’Neal. The family extends their thanks to the many the many caring friends, Porter Hills, Emmanuel Hospice and Westminster Church.  There will be an interment at the columbarium at Westminster Church at a later date.
